For those that don't already know, I'm back on my comp. Borrowed win xp cd from ql and the most amazing thing happened while i was trying to reinstall windows xp.



So basically, I suspected a corrupted system file screwing up my PC, so I tried to reinstall windows.

Booted PC, inserted win xp cd, then realised i can't press F12 nor Delete, because my Saitek Eclipse keyboard had no power. (I think the USB ports get power only awhile after your PC boots up or something)

Tried whatever I could, but to no avail. In the end, called ql who offered a very simple solution. Use another keyboard.

Grabbed my bro's dell keyboard (it was originally mine), discovered it was a P/S 2 keyboard, and PLUGGED IT IN AS IF A SUICIDE BOMBER WAS ON MY HEELS. k whatever.

Realised I couldn't get to the "Boot from ..." screen. Resorted to going to system setup to switch Device boot order.

FRIGGIN REALISED THERE WAS A FRIGGIN PASSWORD IN SYSTEM SETUP. WTF. Panicked, and tried every single password I could think of. Nada. Frustrating, no? But guess what, it actually solved my problems.

As frustration set in, I banged on my keyboard (albeit accidentally), and pressed enter. VOILA. DONE. What a way to get past a password.

And so, the saga ends, with me switching 1st boot device to cdrom, and finally managing to reinstall win xp.


The most WTF experience with passwords. Ever.
